Platen Specification Worksheet
Getting an accurate platen quote starts with the right information. Use this worksheet to document your press and platen requirements before reaching out to WCRM. The more detail you can provide, the more accurate your quote will be—and the faster we can respond.
Before You Fill Out the Worksheet
If you are specifying a replacement or refurbished platen for an existing press, gather as much of the following as you can before starting. If you are specifying platens for a new press build, your press supplier or WCRM can help fill in the gaps.
Platen Outside Dimensions
Overall length and width of the platen.
Platen Thickness
Current platen thickness, or required thickness for the replacement.
Working Surface Area
The area of the platen face that contacts the mold or material. May be the same as the overall platen dimensions or smaller.
Daylight / Mounting Clearance
The distance between platens when the press is fully open, and any mounting height constraints.
Heating Method
Electric (cartridge/rod heaters), hot oil, or hot water. If you are not sure, describe your current heating system.
Temperature Range
Maximum operating temperature required for your rubber compound and cure conditions.
Number of Heating Zones
Single zone or multi-zone heating? Multi-zone heating improves temperature uniformity across larger platen faces.
Inlet / Outlet Connection Locations
Where the heating fluid enters and exits the platen (for hot oil and hot water systems). Photos of the current platen connections are helpful.
Mounting Configuration
How the platen attaches to the press ram and bed—T-slots, drilled and tapped holes, or other mounting arrangements.
Surface Finish Requirements
Any specific flatness tolerance or surface finish requirement for the working face.
Material Preference
Standard steel, stainless, or other material considerations for your application.

After You Submit
Once we receive your completed worksheet, our team will review your requirements and follow up within 24 to 48 business hours with questions, if any, and a quote. If your platen has unusual dimensions or requires a specific material or heating configuration we need to clarify, we will reach out directly before preparing the quote.

Do I need to complete every field to get a quote?
Fields marked as required are the minimum we need to provide a quote. The more detail you provide—especially heating configuration and mounting arrangement—the more accurate and complete the quote will be, and the fewer follow-up questions we will need to ask.
Can I send drawings or photos instead of filling out the worksheet?
Yes. Drawings, photos, or dimensional sketches of your existing platen are very helpful and can substitute for or supplement the worksheet fields. Send them to us directly or attach them to your online submission.
What if I do not know my current platen’s specifications?
Start with what you do know—overall dimensions and heating method are the most important starting points. If you can send photos of the existing platen from multiple angles, we can often identify additional details that help us prepare an accurate quote.
